Site Glossary
CLOSEFormulary
A list of generic and brand-name prescription drugs that are covered by a Medicare Part D prescription drug plan.
Today's Health HMO covers both brand name drugs and generic drugs. Generic drugs have the same active-ingredient formula as a brand name drug. Generic drugs usually cost less than brand name drugs and are rated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to be as safe and effective as brand name drugs.
We may periodically add, remove or make changes to coverage limitations on certain drugs or change how much you pay for a drug. If we make any formulary change that limits our members’ ability to fill their prescriptions, we will notify the affected enrollees before the change is made. The Comprehensive and Abridged formularies were last updated in September, 2009. However, updates to our formulary are updated via a monthly addendum.
For more information on how to request a formulary exception, read more about prior authorizations here.
