Generic medicines are effective at keeping you healthy and saving you money. Generics are required by the Food and Drug Administration to have the same ingredients, strength and dosage form and work the same way as brand-name medicines, but cost less.1

This is a fixed dollar amount that you pay when your plan does not cover 100% of the cost of your medicines. For example, if you pay a certain amount for a medicine, or for a visit to the doctor, that amount is your copay.
- Look up your medicines on our Drug Search tool. We’ll tell you if there are lower-cost alternatives.
- If there are lower-cost alternatives, talk to your doctor to see if it is safe to switch.
- If your doctor says it is OK to switch medicines, fill your new prescription at a network pharmacy.
